East iJAG Students Experience Cargill 1st Hand
How well do we really know the businesses in our local community? iJAG students are determined to learn more about the companies that surround their community and what opportunities exist within those organizations. Recently, iJAG Students at East High School in Des Moines explored who Cargill was, what they did and how they impacted the Des Moines community and beyond. The students first learned about Cargill when Cargill Associate, Adam Brooker, came to their iJAG classroom to work on career paths and employability skills with the students. As the students’ learning deepened, they were able to see Cargill through their eyes with a visit to the local Cargill plant. Not only did they learn about the of the soybean plant but they also visited with employees to learn more about the workplace. iJAG Student Bailee West, “I did not realize all that was involved in the processing of soybeans and how much we actually use it in our lives.” The students learned how it impact their community but also the impact of Cargill on their individual lives. iJAG Students want to send a special thanks to Adam Brooker and the Cargill Team for making their learning experience possible.
